Privacy policy

Datenschutzerklärung. This page explains what data whale-read.com processes and why. The site sets no cookies and uses no tracking.

Who is responsible

[Full name], [street, postcode, city], Germany. Email: hello@whale-read.com. Full details are in the Impressum.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request, so it can deliver the page and protect it from attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in a secure, working website). A data processing agreement with Cloudflare is in place. Cloudflare may process data in the USA; it is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Book suggestions

If you use the suggestion form, we store the book title and, if you give them, the author, your reason and your Instagram handle. We use this only to plan new posts and, if you ask for it, to thank you on Instagram (Art. 6(1)(a) and (f) GDPR). Suggestions are stored in Cloudflare's database and deleted after 12 months at the latest. Please don't enter other personal data in the form.

Emails

If you email us, we use your message and address only to answer you. Incoming mail is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing.

Amazon affiliate links

Book buttons link to Amazon with our partner ID. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Nothing is sent to Amazon until you click. On Amazon's site, Amazon's own privacy policy applies, and Amazon may set cookies to record that you came from us.

Fonts and Instagram links

Fonts are served from this site, not from Google. Links to Instagram only open Instagram when you tap them.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to its processing, ask for data portability, and withdraw consent at any time (Art. 15-21 GDPR). Just email hello@whale-read.com. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one in your state or country.
